2023: INEC confirms primary dates for APC, PDP, 7 others

The Independent National Electoral Commission has confirmed the dates of primary election for the All Progessives Party (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and seven other parties ahead of the 2023 general elections.

This was in the calendar of political party primaries released by the election and monitoring department of INEC which was seen by our correspondent.

The other parties with their dates confirmed by INEC are the African Action Congress (AAC), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and Boot Party (BP).

Others are Labour Party (LP), New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

The PDP has scheduled its House of Assembly primaries for May 7, while the House of Representatives and Senate primaries are to hold May 12 and 14 respectively.

The governorship primaries will hold May 21, while the main opposition party will pick its presidential flagbearer on May 29.

The ruling APC fixed it presidential primary election just one day after the PDP’s, while governorship candidates are expected to be elected on May 23.

House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate primaries of the APC are also to hold on May 11, May 16 and May 18 respectively.

AAC will pick its presidential candidate on June 3, APGA June 1, APM May 30 and Boot Party June 3.

The presidential flagbearers of LP, NNPP and ZLP are also to emerge on June 3, May 25-26 and June 1 respectively.
