3 police officers face trial after tinted glass permit incident in Lagos

The Zone 2 Police Command has begun the trial of three police officers attached to the Zonal Intelligence Bureau in Lagos.

The three officers facing trial were; ASP Kenedy Ereoah, Inspr Ademiluyi Adekunle and Inspr Ayo Gbenga.

A statement issued by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, SP Umma Ayuba, said the officers have been defaulted and being tried for flouting the IGP’s directive on tinted permit.

Ayuba explained that the officers were on official duty but acted unprofessional, calling on the affected member of the public to contact her for further action.

The statement read in part: ” The attention of the Police in Zone 2 Command was drawn to a viral video posted by ‘X’ user with the handle @EmmCee_RNB on the 25th January, 2024 where three men claiming to be Police Officers attached to Zone 2 Command demanded a tinted permit from a motorist. The tweet was responded to while investigation was caused into the identity of the Officers.

“The Officers were identified as (1) ASP KENEDY EREOAH (2) INSPR ADEMILUYI ADEKUNLE and (3) INSPR AYO GBENGA all attached to Zonal Intelligence Bureau, Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos.

“Contrary to the claim that they were kidnappers, they were headed on official duty but acted unprofessionally. Meanwhile, the officers have been defaulted and presently being tried for flouting the IGP’s directive on tinted permit.

“However, for the purpose of transparency, the command wishes to request the presence of the affected member of the public to contact the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer via GSM No. 08100025614 for further action.

“The AIG calls for calm while reassuring residents of Lagos and Ogun States of the safety and security of lives and properties as they go about their lawful businesses”.
