35 lives lost in Ogun road accidents in June – FRSC

The Ogun Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reported that 35 people lost their lives in 49 road accidents across the state between June 1 and June 27.

This statistic was disclosed by Mr. Anthony Uga, the FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun, during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in the Ota region.

In addition to the fatalities, Uga revealed that 146 individuals sustained injuries of varying severity in these accidents.

Uga attributed the majority of the accidents to factors such as excessive speed, irresponsible driving, wrongful overtaking, and nighttime travel.

He emphasized the need for motorists to adhere strictly to traffic laws and regulations to mitigate unnecessary highway fatalities.

“The FRSC wants to urge motorists to reduce their speeds and also install speed limit devices on their vehicles to reduce fatality rates in case of accidents.

“In addition, they should refrain from dangerous driving and wrongful overtaking to stem road crashes,” he said.

He also reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to collaborating with other sister agencies to enhance road safety for all commuters.
