Akpabio asks Ningi to apologise over budget padding allegation

The Senate on Tuesday witnessed a rowdy session over the budget padding allegation levelled against it by Bauchi Central Senator, Abdul Ningi.

Ningi, who is the Chairman of Northern Senators’ Forum, had alleged that the National Assembly debated and passed N25 trillion as 2024 budget and not the N28.7 trillion that is being implemented by the Federal Government.

He made the allegation while speaking in an interview with the BBC Hausa Service, accused the Senate of padding the budget to the tune of N3.7 trillion.

Condemning the disposition of the Bauchi Senator, Senate President, Godswill Akpabio challenged Ningi to apologize for denting the image of the Senate.

The Senators while debating the issue, however went into a rowdy session.
