Amosun’s loyalists join Abiodun’s camp in Ogun APC

Some loyalists of former Governor Ibikunle Amosun have joined the caucus of Governor Dapo Abiodun in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ogun State Chapter.

The loyalists joined the Abiodun caucus after five years of political infighting between the two groups.

Amosun’s loyalists converged at the Presidential Lodge in Ibara Housing Estate, Abeokuta, for a meeting with the governor.

The meeting was lead by former chairman of Ogun State APC, Hon. Derin Adebiyi, whose tenure was dissolved in 2019 by the truncated Adams Oshiomhole-led APC National Working Committee for alleged anti-party activities.

It was learnt that the politicians have the nod of Amosun to form an alliance with Abiodun to facilitate their return to APC, having left the party for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) during the 2023 governorship election.

It would be recalled that Amosun allegedly during the electio sponsored Tunji Otegbeye on the platform of African Democratic Congress (ADC) to unseat Abiodun.

Otegbeye came a distant third in the election with 94,000 votes, fueling speculations that Amosun might have used Otegbeye as a spoiler to stop the emergence of Ladi Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who came second in the election.
