APC’s Aliyu wins Sokoto Governorship election
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Ahmad Aliyu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Sokoto State.
Aliyu was declared winner with 453,661 votes to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Saidu Umar, who scored 404,632 votes.
Umar is the candidate of Governor Aminu Tambuwal of the PDP.
Aliyu was a former deputy governor of the state and immediate past Secretary of Police Trust Fund.
