President of Osogbo Progressives Union (OPU), Justice Kunle Adeigbe (rtd), has dispelled insinuations that Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun Oyetunji, was detained by police in Abuja.

The social media was on Thursday awashed with rumors and speculations about the Ataoja’s whereabouts, as there were exchanges between supporters of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).

Responding to the rumour, Adeigbe, in a text message said  “It’s untrue that His Royal Majesty, Kabiyesi, Ataoja of Osogboland is being held in Abuja by the Police.

“The truth is that the Ataoja was invited to Abuja to clear himself of some allegations contained in a petition to the police against him, just like anybody can be invited by the police on any alleged allegation.

“I can confirm to you that Ataoja is not being detained in Abuja as you are reading on social media.”

It was gathered that Oba Oyetunji had been invited to Abuja by security operatives over a petition authored by a king under his domain which related to fund.
