Bauchi Police Command has apprehended a suspected robber who hijacked a trailer truck carrying 35 tons of groundnut oil valued at around N30 million.

The theft was reported to have occurred at the Maraban Jos trailer park in Kaduna State on April 12, 2024, prompting a distress call to the Toro Divisional Police Headquarters.

In a statement on Sunday, SP Ahmed Wakil, the spokesman for the Bauchi Command, disclosed that the stolen truck, a DAF CF 85 model, was en route from Umuahia in Abia State to Kano State when it was stolen in Kaduna.

Preliminary investigations suggested that the driver had stopped at the trailer park for a bath, only to return and find the trailer missing.

The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Auwal Muhammad, has ordered a discreet investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) into the theft.

The suspect who is yet to disclose his identity, will face charges in court once the investigation is complete.
