BREAKING: Court of Appeal sacks Mutfwang as Plateau governor

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has sacked Caleb Mutfwang as Plateau State Governor.

The appeal court in its ruling on Sunday, declared that Nentawe Yiltwatda of the All Progressives Congress (APC), won the March 11 governorship election, nullifying Mufang’s declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Justice Okon Abang, who read the unanimous decision by the appeal court, ordered INEC to withdraw the Certificate of Return issued Mutfwang and issue another to Yiltwatda.

The appeal court ruled that the Election Petition Tribunal in Jos which had earlier dismissed Yiltwatda’s petition acted in error.

Justice Abang said, “The tribunal was in error when it said the appellants lacked the right to contest the conduct of the election.

“Tribunal was hard on the appellant when it likened the appellant to one crying more than the bereaved.

“If the appellant finds his neighbour with a goat that doesn’t belong to him, there is nothing wrong if he complains or raises the alarm.”
