By Innocent Raphael

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has said Emirates Airlines will resume flights to Nigeria.

This announcement follows Keyamo’s meeting with UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, Salem Saeed Al-Shamsi, at the UAE Embassy in Abuja.

Keyamo revealed that Emirates has confirmed a specific date for the resumption of flights, which will be officially announced by the airline in the coming days.

The minister made the disclosure in a post via his X handle alongside pictorials of the visit.

He wrote: “Yesterday, I paid a working visit to the Ambassador of the UAE to Nigeria, His Excellency, Salem Saeed Al-Shamsi, at the UAE Embassy in Abuja,” Keyamo shared on X.com on Wednesday.

“He handed me a correspondence from Emirates Airline indicating a definite date of their resumption of flights to Nigeria. That date will be formally announced by Emirates Airlines in a matter of days.”

The resumption of Emirates’ operations in Nigeria comes after resolving issues related to the repatriation of the airline’s earnings in US dollars, which had led to the suspension of flights in October 2022.
