BREAKING: One dies in lone accident at Anthony/Gbagada area

One person has been declared dead in a lone motor vehicle accident that occured on Saturday at about 10am at Anthony Oke inward Gbagada in Bariga local council area of Lagos state.

Eyewitness told WesternPost that the driver of the containerised truck lost control due to a brake failure and the truck fell down while ascending the Anthony bridge.

The eyewitness further said that it was unknown if the driver died, adding that the motor boy hit his head on the ground as the truck fell down.

Confirming the incident, the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Mr Adebayo Taofiq, in a statement, said the cooperatives of the agency rescued the driver who was unconscious.

Taofiq confirmed that the dead person was the motor of the truck, adding that the rescued driver was immediately rushed to Gbagada General Hospital by officials of the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU) who were on ground.

He added ” Immediately the accident happened, Lastma personnel  rushed to the scene and rescued the driver unconsciously, while his motor boy was found dead”

“Police from Ilupeju Police Station provided security backup while the  rescued driver was immediately rushed to Gbagada General Hospital by officials of the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU) on ground.

” The Acting General Manager of LASTMA Mr. Bakare Oki who visited the accident scene sympathized and sent his condolences to the families of the motor boy.

“Bakare Oki however warned motoring public particularly truck drivers to always ensure their vehicles are in perfect conditions including the braking system before embarking on any journey within the State and the Country at large”.
