Buhari hails Gov Lalong at 60, commends him for his ‘far sighted decisions’ as leader

President Muhammadu Buhari has sent birthday wishes to the Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum and Governor of Plateau State, Simon Bako Lalong, on the occasion of his 60th birthday.

In a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the President (Media & Publicity), Garba Shehu, President Buhari expressed his gratitude for the immense affection shown to him by the governor and the people of Plateau State.

“I express my special gratitude to Governor Lalong as he marks his landmark birthday. I thank you for the trust you have in our friendship,” the President said.

President Buhari also commended Governor Lalong for the work he has done since taking oath of office and the decisions he has taken in the last eight years.

He said that these decisions reflected Governor Lalong’s effectiveness as a leader, particularly in matters of the security and wellbeing of the people.

The President added that he believes a great future lies ahead for the governor.

“These reflect his effectiveness as a leader. On matters of the security and wellbeing of the people, the Governor is an example for the whole country. I believe a great future lies ahead for him,” President Buhari said.

In wishing Governor Lalong many happy years ahead, President Buhari urged him to continue to bring convenience and respect to the people of his state.

Governor Lalong has been Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum since 2021 and was first elected as Governor of Plateau State in 2015. He was reelected for a second term in 2019.
