Chinese expatriate arrested in Abia over murder of crane operator

Abia State Police have confirmed the arrest of Mr. GZ Zhen, a Chinese expatriate working at Inner Galaxy Steel in Umuahala Asa, Ukwa West council area.

Zhen is accused of murdering a female crane operator, Ocheze Ogbonna.

Recall that news sources had reported the incident occurred during a night shift when Ogbonna rejected Zhen’s sexual advances. Zhen allegedly attacked her, inflicting injuries that resulted in her death.

The tragic event has sparked outrage within the local community, leading to protests by local youths demanding justice for Ogbonna, who was a member of the host community.

Police Public Relations Officer for the Abia Command, ASP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed that Zhen is in custody and stated that an investigation into the matter is underway.
