CJN set to receive N5.39 million monthly

The House of Representatives passed a bill into law on Wednesday, which sets out the salaries, allowances, and fringe benefits for judicial office holders in Nigeria. The Chief Justice of Nigeria will receive a monthly package of N5,39 million. 

Other Justices of the Supreme Court will earn a total package of N4,213,192.54, while the President of the Court of Appeal will receive a total monthly package of N4,478,415.78. The bill was submitted to the House by the President on Tuesday.

Justices of the Court of Appeal are set to earn a total monthly package of N3,726,665.40. 

On the other hand, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, President of the National Industrial Court, Chief Judge of the FCT High Court, Grand Khadi, FCT Sharia Court of Appeal, President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Chief Judge of State High Court and Grand Khadi of State Sharia Court of Appeal and President of state Customary Court of Appeal will earn a total monthly package of N3,527,022.61.

This total monthly package includes their basic salaries and all regular allowances, such as motor vehicle fueling and maintenance, personal assistance, hardship, entertainment, utilities, security, outfit, journal subscriptions, medical benefits, as well as service allowances and restricted or forced lifestyle allowances, dual responsibility allowances, and legal researchers.

Additionally, the House approved other regular job allowances not included in the total monthly package. 

These allowances include leave allowances, estacode per night of $2000 when applicable, duty tour allowances when applicable, severance gratuity of N80,775,707.70 upon the successful completion of tenure, as well as an option for a motor vehicle loan to be repaid before the expiration of tenure.
