Crowd besiege CBN office in Lagos over old naira notes

There is currently a large crowd at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) office in Marina, Lagos State, as Nigerians struggle to deposit their old N500 and N1000 notes.

Western Post recalls that the Governor of the CBN, Godwin Emefiele, had asked Nigerians in possession of the old Naira notes to deposit them at offices of the CBN nationwide.

Findings by Western Post revealed that on Friday, many Nigerians besieged the Marina branch office of the CBN to deposit their old Naira notes as requested as part of measures to manage the currency redesign crisis.

It was observed that a handwritten notice indicating just a website, httpps://crs.cbn.gov.ng, was pasted at the gate of the bank.

The customers were seen copying and snapping the website with their phones in order for them to be able to commence the process of depositing their old naira notes with the apex bank.
