DCP Gbolahan allegedly commits suicide in Oyo

Deputy Commissioner of Police serving with the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Alagbon, Lagos State, Gbolahan Oyedemi, has reportedly committed suicide in his private home in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

Oyedemi, who previously served as the Aide de Camp to the late former Governor of the state, Adebayo Alao-Akala, during his tenure in 2006, was found hanging by a rope in his house on Monday.

Accorrding to a family source, Oyedemi, who typically visited his hometown during Easter, had instructed his aides to also spend time with their families over the weekend.

Details of his death are unclear as of now. However, the Police Public Relations Officer of FCID, Alagbon, DSP Eguaoje Funmilayo, confirmed his passing and mentioned ongoing investigations to determine the cause.

“No one can tell specifically what the cause of his death is until an investigation is carried out. There is no official statement from the Inspector General of Police yet”, Funmilayo stated.

WESTERN POST recalls that before his passing, Oyedemi was the DCP in charge of Special Investigation at the Force Criminal Investigation Department in Panti, Lagos State.
