Despite Ortom’s endorsement, Tinubu beats Peter Obi in Benue

Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has been declared wthe inner of the presidential election in Benue State.

Tinubu, according to the returning officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Faruk Kuta, in Makurdi, scored 310,468 votes. Peter Obi of the Labour Party polled 308,372 votes to come second.

Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came third with 130,081 votes, while the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) scored 4,740 votes.

It would be recalled that the state governor, Samuel Ortom, a member of the PDP G-5 governors had declared his support for the Labour Party candidate.

The governor had earlier lost his senatorial election for Benue North Senatorial District to the APC candidate, Zam Titus.
