Dino Melaye loses LGA to Ododo’s APC

Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lost his Local Government Area, Ijumu, to the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Usman Ododo.

According to the results released on Sunday, Melaye, a former senator from the Kogi West constituency, received 6,909 votes, while Ododo of the APC received 10,524 votes.

The results were announced Sunday at the INEC headquarters in Lokoja, Kogi state capital.

Melaye had won his polling unit at Open Space Polling Unit in Iluafon Quarters under Aiyetoro 1 registration area of Ijumu LGA of the State, with 210 to defeat Ododo with 22 votes.

He had demanded the cancellation of the elections in five LGA including Okene, Okehi, Ajaokuta, Adavi, and Ogori/Mangogo.

Melaye also alleged that the results from the units were compromised.
