No fewer than 72 students of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, have been reportedly arrested by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
It was gathered that the anti-graft agency carried out the raid of the students on their hostels outside the campus at about 2 a.m. on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.
The early morning raid was said to be on two major off-campus hostels in the town, identified as the Fine Touch and Superb hostels in Oduduwa Estate in Ile-Ife.
The OAU’s Students’ Union President, Akinremi Abass who confirmed the incident, said the students and their vehicles were taken to the Ibadan office of the commission.
It was further gathered that female students were among those arrested by the officers of the anti-graft agency.
Meanwhile, the OAU spokesperson, Abiodun Olarewaju, is yet to speak on the incident.
