EFCC retrieves N7.8m stolen funds belonging to BIPC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has successfully retrieved N7.8 million in stolen funds from the Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC).

Dr. Raymond Asemakaha Jr., the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BIPC, confirmed this development during a meeting held in his office in Makurdi on Tuesday.

Asemakaha disclosed that the recovered amount has been returned to BIPC via a draft cheque, with ongoing efforts to recover additional funds.

He also emphasized the significance of this recovery in bolstering the agency’s integrity and fostering a culture of accountability, particularly under the leadership of His Excellency Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia.

Acknowledging the EFCC’s proactive measures, Asemakaha commended the agency for its effectiveness in combating fraudulent activities perpetrated by corrupt individuals.

He further hailed the EFCC’s professionalism and dedication to ensuring justice and combating financial crimes, as he asserted that the successful recovery underscores the importance of robust investigative procedures and the commitment to upholding integrity in financial transactions.
