Ekiti First Lady launches WAOH Project for widows, orphans

Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji on Friday in Ado Ekiti, the state capital launched her philanthropic project that will take care of widows and orphans in the state.

The pet project with name Widows and Orphans Hope Project (WAOH) was launched with senior government officials and former First Lady of the state, Erelu Bisi Fayemi and current deputy governor, Chief Mrs. Monisade Afuye attendance.

Governor Abiodun Oyebanji who also attended the event to give his wife moral support praised the First Lady for her love and interest in the weak and vulnerable members of the society.

The governor wrote via his social media handles: “I had the privilege of joining my darling wife, Olayemi to formally unveil her pet project, Widows and Orphans Hope Project ( WAOH Project), together with former First Lady, H.E. Erelu Bisi Fayemi, the Deputy Governor, Chief ( Mrs ) Monisade Afuye; and a host of other dignitaries in Ado Ekiti.

“The office of the First Lady has been providing support for the vulnerable in the state, with particular emphasis on widows and orphans, yesterday’s event was a bold statement on the importance Project WAOH places on the welfare and wellbeing of widows and orphans.

“I would like to commend the First Lady and her team for their tireless efforts in making the program a reality.

“This official unveiling of the initiative underscores our administration’s commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of the most vulnerable in the state. widows and orphans in Ekiti State. The fact that about 350 of the 30,000 widows that were registered shows that a lot of work lies ahead for us in the area of mobilizing material and financial support for the widows in our midst in the bid to ensure shared prosperity for the people of the state.”
