The Ekiti State Government has urged residents of Eda Oniyo in the Ilejemeje Local Government Area to remain calm following a recent attack on their community.

In a statement released in Ado Ekiti, State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun assured the public that the situation was under control.

According to Olatunbosun, security forces, including soldiers, police, and members of the Amotekun Corps, were swiftly deployed to the scene to manage the crisis.

The attack, which reportedly resulted in the death of one resident, is believed to have stemmed from a boundary dispute between Eda Oniyo Ekiti and Obo Ayegunle in Kwara State.

The violence escalated when armed men from Obo Ayegunle allegedly launched an assault on Eda Oniyo on Saturday.

Olatunbosun confirmed that additional troops had been dispatched to safeguard the community, with the Army in Kwara State also being contacted to station forces along the border to prevent further hostilities.

The Commissioner reiterated the Ekiti State Government’s commitment to maintaining peace and security, emphasizing the importance of calm while security agencies handle the situation.

He further assured that those responsible for the attack would be identified and prosecuted.

Olatunbosun also extended condolences to the family of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the incident.
