Electorates responsible for current economic woes- Ekezie

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State, Stanley Ekezie has attributed Nigeria’s current economic challenges to the decisions made by voters during the recent general election.

Speaking to journalists in Owerri, Ekezie emphasized that Nigerians accepted meager sums from politicians in exchange for effective governance.

He highlighted the prevalence of vote buying during the last election, where voters prioritized monetary gains over the integrity of the electoral process, enabling politicians to manipulate their way into power.

Ekezie expressed disappointment that many Nigerians are now facing economic hardships, emphasizing that such consequences were foreseeable given the electorate’s choices.

“Blame Nigeria’s electorate for the current economic crisis. Nigerians prefer to take peanuts in lieu of good governance,” he lamented.

The former aspirant for the Okigwe North Federal Constituency, however stressed that genuine economic progress would remain elusive until voters prioritize electing qualified individuals to public office.

“The situation will persist so long as the wrong people continue to occupy the seat of power. 2027 is another opportunity for Nigerians to choose the best leaders,” he said.
