Enugu governor, Ugwuanyi loses senatorial election to LP candidate

Labour Party (LP) candidate in Enugu North Senatorial zone, Mr Okey Ezea, has been declared the winner of the senatorial election in the area.
He defeated the state governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to the returning officer, Prof. Chukwuemeka Ubaka, who announced the result on Monday, Ezea polled 104,492 votes to beat his closest challenger, Ugwuanyi, who got 46,948 votes.
Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eze Simon, came third 6,816 votes.
Ugwuanyi is one of the G-5 governors opposed to the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
