Exclusive: Ex-PDP Deputy National Chairman, Oyedokun dumps party, joins APC

By Innocent Raphael

Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Shuaib Afolabi Oyedokun, has resigned and defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Oyedokun, whose contributions to the PDP have been widely recognized at the local, state, and national levels, cited a departure from the founding ideals of the party as the primary reason for his resignation.

In his resignation letter dated May 16, sighted by WesternPost, Oyedokun expressed his discontent, stating, “I have the honour (though with pain) in announcing the renunciation of my membership of the party on principle, having observed that the ideals of we, founding members, had been sorely contaminated.”

According to the letter, Oyedokun’s resignation was formally addressed to National Chairman of the PDP, acknowledging the leadership of his Ward, Local and State Chairmen.

The former PDP leader further revealed that his decision was made after thorough consultations with his loyal supporters within the party.

Announcing his intention to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), he asserted that the new party is a structure where he believes his experience, efforts, and leadership will be more valued and appreciated.

This move marks a notable realignment in the political landscape of Osun State, as Oyedokun’s departure is expected to have significant implications for the PDP’s prospects in the region.
