Farmers join troops to fight bandits in Kaduna

Four bandits were killed and several others injured in a series of operations by the Nigerian Army and Operation Whirl Punch in Kaduna State.
The operations were conducted between 1 and 3 November 2023 in various locations in Birnin Gwari and Chikun Local Government Areas.
According to a press statement by the Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations 1 Division Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, the troops recovered weapons, motorcycles and phones from the bandits.
He said the operations were carried out following credible intelligence and clearance missions.
He also said that some farmers who were harvesting their crops at Sabon Sara village on 2 November 2023 bravely joined the troops to repel an attack by the bandits. One of the farmers, Mallam Abdulrahman Aliyu, was injured and evacuated to a military hospital for treatment.
The General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander Operation Whirl Punch, Major General VU Okoro, commended the troops and the farmers for their gallantry and urged them not to relent until all criminals are neutralized.
