FCT Police raid suspected kidnappers’ den, arrest four, rescue victims

The Nigeria Police, Federal Capital Territory Command in a sting operation on Friday, raided the den of suspected kidnappers in the border areas of Abuja.

A statement posted on the police X handle by the FCT Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, revealed that the exercise was a joint effort between the police and other security forces, resulting in the arrest of four suspects.

According to the statement, the team stormed the suspected kidnappers’ abode in the ‘Gidan Dogo and Kweti Forest of Kaduna State, which borders the FCT.’

The operation resulted in a shootout between the alleged kidnappers and the security personnel, during which some kidnapped victims were rescued.

Police gave the names of the four arrested suspects: Yahaya Abubakar, Mohammed Mohamed, Umar Aliyu and Nura Abdullahi. Two of the suspects are said to be ex-convicts.

The suspects, according to police, have confessed to being part of the infamous “Mai One Million” bandit group, which was behind several kidnappings and other horrible crimes in the Federal Capital Region and its surroundings.

According to the security operatives, the rescued victims have been reunited with their families while the camps of the criminals have been destroyed.
