Food security tops Kwara govt 10 years agriculture plan

Kwara state government has come up with ten years agriculture plans to improve productivity of food crops,live stocks,access to finance and market for farm produce.

The plans also captured the availability of food crops for all through subsidize inputs, solar pumping machine amongst others.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mrs Oloruntoyosi Thomas during a media familiarization in her office on Wednesday..

She noted that the state government cannot actualize the plans all alone, saying the government would partner with relevant agriculture allied organizations.

Thomas said the government is gender inclusive in the plans as various agriculture platforms are opened for women famers to be captured.

She said the ministry has put the farmers in clusters, saying it would give room for proper monitoring, accountability and transparency.

The commissioner disclosed that the government has good intentions and intenational about localizing the plans as well as ensuring each local government in the state is known for at least a farm produce.

She urged the farmers to welcome the development as soon as it comes on board.

Earlier, the Chairman of All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Mallam Umar Aboki and Chairman Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) Mallam Mohammad Saliu separately commended the administration of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for bringing every farmer onboard, identifying the challenges and proffering solutions to the challenges.
