Fuji star K1 urges Tinubu to fix Nigeria’s woes in viral video

Fuji legend K1 expressed his dissatisfaction with the state of affairs in Nigeria, especially the rising cases of kidnappings, during a recent live performance.

A video clip of his performance, where he spoke in Yoruba, went viral on social media on Thursday, February 1, 2024. In the video, K1 appealed to President Bola Tinubu to address the numerous problems facing the common people.

Tinubu’s presidency has been marked by drastic economic reforms, which have had adverse effects on the living standards of Nigerians. On his first day in office, Tinubu abolished the fuel subsidy, causing the fuel price to skyrocket from ₦180 to over ₦600.

Moreover, as part of his financial policies, the CBN allowed the naira to float freely against the dollar, resulting in a steep depreciation of the local currency and a shift to market-based interest rates.

These two measures have triggered a surge in inflation, eroding the purchasing power of Nigerians and pushing more people into poverty.

Many Nigerians have voiced their frustration and anger over these developments, and K1 has joined them in their protest.

The Fuji icon said Nigerians were in distress and urged Tinubu to act swiftly to solve the problems.

“I plead with you to find a solution to the plight of the masses. The citizens are crying and wailing. We’re suffering amid a lack of adequate power supply. How did things get to this point? I implore you to fix these problems,” K1 sang in the video.

He also criticized those who were benefiting from the misery of the masses and told them to be ashamed of themselves.

He further asked Tinubu to “listen to the complaints of the masses and treat such complaints with all seriousness.

“We know you to be a philanthropist, but we Nigerians are angry. The people of Nigeria are angry.

“The traders in this country are not happy. Look at what the dollar has become (a reference to the exchange rate),” K1 said.

He also expressed his concern over the increasing rate of kidnappings in the country and urged Tinubu to tackle the issue effectively.

K1, however, asked Nigerians to be patient and hopeful with Tinubu, assuring them that his government would overcome all the challenges facing the country.
