Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has issued a stern warning to transport workers, cautioning them against actions that could lead to violence and lawlessness.

In a statement released by the Governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, on Wednesday, Adeleke directed the Commissioner for Transportation to convene a reconciliatory meeting with all conflicting groups within the transport sector.

“The officials and their members should desist from distracting Osun people from the many ongoing laudable projects and the delivery of good governance.

“This administration will not condone lawlessness and acts of violence. We must not and cannot afford to return to the era of the previous administration. Our government has zero tolerance for violence,” the statement read.

Adeleke emphasized the importance of resolving transport sector issues through due process, highlighting the state’s commitment to accountability and transparency in managing Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

He noted that the government has automated revenue collection and integrated multiple revenue points into a single billing process, resulting in increased IGR and eliminating revenue leakages.

The statement added that the Commissioner for Transportation is to engage the transport officials and reconcile all financial records,

Asserting that the governor’s administration remained focused on maintaining order and ensuring that the state’s progress is unhindered, it warned that any transport official who engages in violence will be made to face the full wrath of the law.
