Gov. Eno authorizes release of additional N1.4bn gratuities

In  fulfillment of his campaign promise, Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has authorized the immediate release of N1.4 billion for further payment of gratuities.

The breakdown of the payment is as follows: N900 million for retired State Civil servants and N500million for retired primary school teachers.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ekerete Udoh in a statement said the release of the additional N1.4 billion brings the total amount of gratuities paid so far by the Governor, ten months after his inauguration to N16.1 billion.

The statement stated that, “Even though  it is an acknowledged fact that gratuities are entitlements, but the courage to consistently release funds for the payment, further demonstrates the people- centric approach to governance by His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno.

“This gesture, will undoubtedly help our retirees cushion the harsh effects of the current economic situation in the country.”
