Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, alongside Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and other state officials, inaugurated two newly completed housing schemes on Tuesday, significantly expanding the government’s housing stock.

The newly commissioned projects include the 10-storey Rising Lagos Apartment and the multi-floor Greater Lagos LBIC/WGC Apartments, both located in the Amuwo Odofin area.

Developed by the Lagos State Building Investment Company (LBIC), these projects were separately constructed to offer modern living spaces.

The Rising Lagos Apartment in Mile 2 is a three-block residential development featuring integrated multi-level parking. It comprises 50 units of three-bedroom flats and 10 units of two-bedroom flats, nestled in the serene Amuwo-Odofin neighborhood.

In contrast, the Greater Lagos LBIC/WGC Apartments, situated on an 18,682-square-metre mini-estate in Mile 2, offer 144 units of various apartments.

This joint venture development includes 32 studio units, 60 one-bedroom flats, and 52 two-bedroom flats.

Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that providing decent accommodation is central to his administration’s efforts to build strong families, foster community development, and enhance the overall well-being of Lagos residents.

He highlighted that these housing schemes reflect the government’s commitment to addressing the urban housing deficit and making home ownership a reality for Lagosians.

“This event marks another significant milestone in delivering valuable dividends of democracy to our people.

“We are unveiling two groundbreaking housing projects that are critical steps toward transforming Lagos into a 21st-century economy in line with our THEMES Plus agenda,” Sanwo-Olu stated.

He added that the new schemes have been meticulously designed to offer modern, spacious, and comfortable living spaces, catering to the diverse needs of residents.

The governor further noted that the Rising Lagos Apartments exemplify the administration’s dedication to elevating living standards and ensuring access to high-quality housing.

“By providing a mix of housing options, we are addressing the housing deficit while promoting social cohesion and economic integration.

“These projects are not merely buildings; they symbolize hope, progress, and our resolve to tackle housing challenges and provide our citizens with dignity and security through home ownership,” he said.

Despite these achievements, Sanwo-Olu acknowledged that the state’s housing needs are still unmet and that the government alone cannot resolve Lagos’s housing challenges.

He reiterated the importance of innovative solutions and strategic partnerships with the private sector to increase the housing market stock.

“I urge private investors and real estate stakeholders to seize the abundant opportunities in the state and embrace the partnership extended by our administration.

“Together, we can provide much-needed housing and work towards bridging the housing deficit in the state,” the governor concluded.
