Governor-elect, Oyebanji to expand investment in digital economy in Ekiti

Ekiti State governor-elect, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has declared that his administration will invest in the digital economy and partner domestic and global Information and Communication Technology firms to create opportunities and wealth for Ekiti youths.

Speaking on Thursday in Lagos, when he paid a courtesy visit to CAVISTA, a technology support firm, Oyebanji said the place of technology in businesses and governance globally has made the digital economy a necessary requirement for prosperity.

“Today, the digital economy is an important driver of innovation, growth, and job creation. It has transformed the way businesses operate and has created new opportunities for everyone, especially our young people. Of course, it has also changed the way youths behave and has given them more power and opportunities, hence the need for any serious government to give it priority status.

“At this planning stage, I think it is therefore necessary to engage experts in various fields to lift our dear state. In particular, I’m excited that the CEO/President of Axxess Mr. John Olajide, has expressed the company’s willingness to give back to the society in Ekiti by being the anchor investor in our knowledge zone, which will create jobs and opportunities for our youths. This is a core element of my manifesto and I look forward to explore that opportunity,” Oyebanji.

Country Director Nigeria, CAVISTA, Mr. Dele Odufuye, who led Oyebanji and his team, including the state Commissioner of Finance, Mr. Akin Oyebode, on a tour of the company and its operation, said the firm’s main objective in any market is to support their clients and partner with the world’s best technology solutions.

“Software development and talents are everywhere in the world. In Nigeria, there are many people out there, who are well endowed in this regard. Narrowing it down to Ekiti, our founders can partner the state to develop the Ekiti Knowledge Zone, the cargo Airport and various tourist sites across the state.

“Beyond that, there are thousands of Ekiti youths who need opportunity to explore the digital opportunities.

“Our business model will not only create jobs for them, but by working with us they will be exposed to global models and products they can even use in starting their own companies,” he stated.
