Govt officials, industry leaders visit Abule Panu gas explosion site

Following the tragic gas explosion incident at Abule Panu, representatives from the Lagos State Government (LASG) and industry leaders visited the Council Chairman of Ibeju Lekki LGA, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, to extend condolences to the victims on behalf of the state.

The delegation included Mr. Lanre Omojola, Director General of the Lagos State Safety Commission, and Dr. Tunde Ajayi, General Manager of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA).

In a statement released by Akadiri Ayorinde, Chief Press Secretary to the Ibeju Lekki chair, it was revealed that the officials assessed the situation firsthand by visiting both the explosion site and the hospital where victims are receiving treatment.

According to the statement,, the National President of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Retailers Association and representatives from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) joined the delegation to express their sympathies and evaluate the ground situation.

Looking ahead, the LASG, LASEPA, LPG Retail Association, and NMDPRA announced plans to take aggressive action against illegal retail gas stations and operators in the Local Government Area in the coming weeks.

Recall that WesternPost had earlier reported the mishap which rocked a retail shop, claiming two lives and leaving three others with severe injuries.
