Wale Akinterinwa, former Commissioner of Finance under late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, is gradually emerging as the candidate to beat.
He may defeat Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa in the forthcoming primaries of the APC as most of the party elders have endorsed his aspiration.
He is also from Ondo South.
Western Post sources also said he may have also informed President Tinubu of his ambition as he reportedly met the President last week in Abuja.
A prominent APC leader in Ondo State who preferred not to be mentioned said, “Akinterinwa has found favours with most of the leaders of the APC in Ondo and beyond.
“If Governor Akeredolu were to be alive today he would have pitched his tent with Akinterinwa given what we now know of Governor Aiyedatiwa in terms of character and conduct. He lacks leadership temperament.
“He could not even wait for his principal who appointed him deputy governor and anointed him as his successor to be buried before his new position took over him and he dissolved the cabinet and appointed a new deputy.”
