The esteemed Mogajis, leaders of family compounds in Ibadan, made a significant visit on Wednesday to the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland and former governor of Oyo State, High Chief Rashidi Ladoja.

According to the envoy, the purpose of the visit was to canvasse for the swift coronation of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin as the new Olubadan of Ibadan land.

In a cordial meeting at Ladoja’s residence in Bodija, Ibadan, the Mogajis expressed both their gratitude and admiration for Ladoja’s unwavering commitment to preserving Ibadan’s customs and traditions.

Chief Asimiyu Ariori, the leader of the Mogajis, praised Ladoja for his dedication to Ibadan’s cultural heritage, noting that Ladoja had always been ready to lend assistance, even when it posed great inconvenience.

Responding to their plea, the former governor assured the Mogajis that the coronation of Oba Olakulehin was imminent.

Ladoja disclosed his intention to withdraw the legal proceedings he had initiated against the high chiefs already crowned, clearing the path for Olakulehin’s ascension.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining an agreement to safeguard the rights and privileges of all parties involved.

Ladoja clarified that his legal action stemmed from concerns over potential threats to his own succession as Olubadan.

While expressing reluctance towards desperation, Ladoja affirmed his stance against any form of coercion or intimidation.

Recalling the traditional rites performed by Oba Olakulehin, Ladoja confirmed the government’s acknowledgment of Olakulehin as the Olubadan-elect, signaling a forthcoming transition in Ibadan’s traditional leadership.
