Ilorin International Conference Center to be completed soon, says Commissioner

The Kwara State Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology, Damilola Yusuf-Adelodun has disclosed that the 1,500-capacity Ilorin International Conference Centre will be completed soon.

The International Conference Center when completed would have an additional 500-capacity hall and 120 rooms for various activities in the state.

The commissioner revealed this during an inter-ministerial press briefing held at the Ministry of Communications in Ilorin on Monday.

The inter-ministerial briefing was organized to give the scorecard of Governor Abudlrahaman Abdulrazaq in the first year of his second term across the sixteen ministries and some parastatals in the state.

Adelodun said the soon-to-start Kwara Garments factory would train 10,000 Kwara youths to attract investors to the state as various investors would need the trained youth’s expertise.

She added that the government of Mallam Abdulrazaq Abudlrahaman is also rehabilitating Patigi Regatta Motel which has 20 rooms to boost the region’s cultural practice and generate revenue for the state.

In her speech, the Commissioner for Women Affairs Bosede Buraimoh said the ministry has empowered many women in the state to be self-reliant and cater for their families.

She said in the last year, the ministry has empowered 100 widows and reconciled 4 families, adding that the Assault Referral Center is being used for psychological and health rehabilitation of sexually-abused women and girls in the state.

The Commissioner for Works and Transportation, Engineer Abdulqowiy Olododo disclosed that the ministry through the fire service has received 190 emergency calls in the last one year. He said 10 lives were lost to the incidents.

Olododo added that 75 interlocking and road rehabilitation works are ongoing while 71 new road projects rehabilitation will start soon.
