INEC declares APC’s Ododo winner of Kogi governorship election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Ahmed Usman Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the governor-elect of Kogi State.

Ododo emerged victorious in the governorship election held on Saturday, November 11, 2023.

He secured 446,237 votes, while his closest challenger, Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), got 259,052 votes. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Dino Melaye, came third with 46,362 votes.

The result of the election was announced by the Returning Officer, Prof Johnson Urama, on Sunday evening.

He said Ododo met the requirements of the law and was duly elected.

He quoted him as saying: “Ahmed Ododo of APC, having certified by the law, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected.”
