INEC presents Certificates of Return to senators-elect in Abuja

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday presented Certificates of Return to elected senators in the February 25 National Assembly elections.

The presentation was done by INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu at the International Conference Centre, Abuja used as the commission’s National Collation Centre.

Ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) claimed majority seats in the senate with 57 members, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is second with 29 members elected.

The Labour Party has six members while the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) have two elected members each and the Young Peoples Party (YPP) and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) have one elected senator each.

Elected members of the House of Representatives are expected to collect their Certificates of Return on Wednesday at the same venue.
