Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan Lagos, led by Assistant Inspector General of Police Olatoye A. Durosinmi, have apprehended Joseph Olaosebikan Olawuyi for obtaining a Mercedes Benz GLE 350 under false pretenses and engaging in fraudulent activities totaling Thirty Million Naira (N30,000,000).

The arrest followed a petition from Adesuwa Remee Ogizie, a US-based licensed car dealer.

In 2016, Olawuyi contacted Ogizie to purchase a Mercedes Benz GLE 350, falsely claiming that his brother, Jude Hanslem, would handle the payment.

After the vehicle was delivered to Nigeria, Ogizie discovered the payment was made with fraudulent proceeds.

A team of detectives from the Zonal Anti-Kidnapping Unit, led by SP Abass Gadzama, arrested Olawuyi, who confessed to the crime, admitting that he was involved in internet fraud at the time and had since sold the vehicle and converted the proceeds.

The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be disclosed as the case progresses.

The suspect will be prosecuted upon the completion of the investigation.

In a separate operation, detectives from the Zonal Strike Force, Onikan Lagos, acting on intelligence reports, have arrested Shokoti Roborth, a suspected cross-border gunrunner and cultist, in Atan, Ogun State.

Upon his arrest, two newly manufactured locally made pistols were found in Roborth’s possession.

He subsequently led detectives to his residence in Atan Township, where two additional pistols of similar make were recovered.

Roborth confessed to being a member of the “EIYE Confraternity” cult and admitted to smuggling and selling arms from Benin Republic to fellow cult members.

Following Roborth’s arrest, another suspect, Ojelade Yusuf, was apprehended with a pump-action gun.

Yusuf further confessed to purchasing the weapon from a friend and also admitted to being a member of the “EIYE Confraternity”.

Both suspects are under investigation and will be prosecuted accordingly.
