Ipetumodu honours former presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, as Oluomo

Former Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, was on Saturday conferred with the chieftaincy title of Oluomo of Ipetumodu.

Adesina, in a post on Facebook, said the traditional title came to him as a surprise, as the town’s monarch, the Apetumodu of Ipetumodu, Oba (Prof)Joseph Olugbenga Oloyede, Latimogun 1 didn’t pre-inform him.

He said, “Every first Saturday in November is designated Ipetumodu Day, during which sons and daughters of the town at home and in the Diaspora converge at home, to contribute to the progress and development of their homestead.

“I left Lagos for Ipetumodu, to identify with my kinsmen, and be part of the quest for development. Unknown to me, something momentous was waiting.

“My Kabiyesi, Oba (Prof)Joseph Olugbenga Oloyede, Latimogun 1, the Apetumodu of Ipetumodu, had carefully and cleverly hatched the plan, and I didn’t even have an inkling of it. I was to be conferred with the chieftaincy title of Oluomo (A Choice Son) of Ipetumodu for services rendered to the town and the country.

“It came to me as a huge surprise, albeit a pleasant one, when I was called forward in the assemblage of traditional rulers, illustrious sons and daughters of the town, politicians, and people from all walks of life, and invested with the title. Oluomo. A Choice Son. Amazing!

“In 2018, I had been made the Nwanne di Namba (Brother from Another Mother) of Nmaku Kingdom, in Enugu State. The following year, I was given the Ugomba (Eagle of the Community) of Isieketa Kingdom in Abia State, now, the Oluomo of Ipetumodu. From my own very town, among my kith and kin. Wonderful!

“I thank my Kabiyesi, his Olori, all the chiefs and sons and daughters of Ipetumodu, who consented to my being given the title. The Choice Son. Oluomo. Sounds good, doesn’t it?”
