Judge who granted court order stopping Sanusi’s reinstatement in US, says Gov. Yusuf

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has promised to inform the Nigeria Governors’ Forum about what he deemed to be the misuse of court orders.

He made this remark in response to the court order that attempted to prevent Sanusi from being reinstated and prevented the removal of five state emirs from their positions.

An interim injunction prohibiting the Inspector General of Police, the Commissioner of the Kano State Police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), and the Department of State Service (DSS) from enforcing, executing, implementing, or operationalizing the Kano State Emirate Council (repeal) law was granted by Justice Abdullahi Muhammad Liman of the Federal High Court, Kano.

The judge issued the order based on a motion submitted by Aminu Babba Danagundi, also known as Sarkin Dawaki Babba.

Speaking on Friday at Africa House, Kano State Government House, just after sending Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II a letter of reinstatement, Yusuf stated, “The person who issued the court order was in America but he is ordering us to stop what we are doing.” I have to bring up this abuse issue before the Governor’s Forum so that we can address it appropriately.

“We are agents of following due process, that’s why we did what we did openly before everybody. Those that are meant to maintain that rule of law remains must follow that also.”
