Kidnapped mother, child regain freedom in Osun

Mrs. Olayinka Kayode and her child kidnapped by gunmen in Osun State have regained their freedom.

The Senior Pastor, Union Baptist Church, Odi-Olowo, Osogbo, Rev. Dr. Sunday Adeoye, made the announcement in a statement released by the Public Relations Officer of the Church, Mr. Oluwamayowa Fagbohungbe.

The Clergy said: “On behalf of the family of Engr. Abayomi Kayode and the entire Union Baptist Church Osogbo family, I express my first gratitude to the Almighty God for answering our prayers, our gallantry security agencies, distinguished members of the press, Osun Baptist Conference President, Rev. Dr. Paul Kolawole, the entire Christian community and all and sundry for their prayers and most particularly for standing by us during the period.

“May the Almighty God rid our dear nation of all forms of criminality and insecurity.”

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state,  Yemisi Opalola,  confirmed the release of the victims but said she would only be able to give details until she gets further briefing on the matter.

It would be recalled that Mrs. Tosin Kayode and her child were kidnapped by gunmen around Otaefun/Kobongboe area of Osogbo while returning home from her shop around 6pm on Tuesday 24th January, 2023.

The woman and her family were said to be members of the Baptist Church and was said to be one of the teachers in the teenagers’ ministry of the church.

The husband of the kidnapped woman, Mr Abayomi, was reported to have been contacted by the kidnappers, who demanded N5 million for the release of the victims.
