The Zone 2 Police Command in Lagos has successfully dismantled a kidnapping ring and rescued two victims in a rapid operation.

This was according to a press statement on Wednesday by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, Zone 2 Command Headquarters, SP Ayuba Umma.

The suspects have been identified as Freeman Ekpebo, Nnachukwu Monday and Samuel Kwasi, with the latter being the domestic driver of the victim.

On the 26 of March, at approximately 06:00hrs, a resident of Millionaire Estate, Oniru, Lagos, reported the abduction of her 10-year-old son, maid, and driver, Mr. Samuel Kwasi, at Ikoyi.

The kidnappers would further demand a ransom of N150,000,000, upon being contacted by the apprehensive family.

Responding swiftly, a team led by the Officer-in-Charge of the Zonal Monitoring Unit, CSP Tijjani Taofiq mobilized advanced tracking techniques, locating the kidnappers’ hideout in Ayetoro, Ijanikin, Badagry road, Lagos.

The statement further revealed that on the 28 of March, officers raided Cozzy Hotel, Ijaniki, arresting suspect Nnachukwu Monday and rescuing the victims unharmed.

In a coordinated effort, Mr. Kwasi and Freeman Ekpebo were apprehended at Sun Era Hotel, Ijanikin, where they awaited the ransom.

Investigations revealed Mr. Kwasi as the mastermind, confessing to disabling the car’s tracking device.

The statement further urged caution and thorough background checks when hiring domestic staff, as it assured that the leadership of Olatoye Durosinmi, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the zone, remained dedicated to safeguarding residents in the zone.
