Kwara Gov appoints new CEO for Water Corporation

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has appointed Engr. Shehu Umar as the General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of the State Water Corporation.

Engineer Umar, who was acting General Manager of the corporation until May 2023, has been described by many as having a repute for professional excellence, as well as good personal records.

He holds a Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Kwara State Polytechnic; Postgraduate Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Federal University Akure; Masters in Public Administration (International Business) from the Lagos State University; and Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Federal University Akure.

Before his appointment into the state civil service, Engineer Umar has had several work experiences in the public and private sectors, including as Project Manager, Engineering Manager and Utility Services Manager at the GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Nigeria Plc Agbara, Ogun State.

He had also served at the defunct Nigeria Paper Mill Limited in Jebba and Sterling Products Nigeria Plc Ilupeju Lagos, among others.

Umar is a member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineers of Nigeria and a corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), among others.

The appointment takes immediate effect.
