Kwara State Governor AbdulRazaq boosts Fire Service with new truck

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has presented a new fire truck to the State Fire Service, aiming to enhance their operations and public safety measures.

Speaking at the presentation which took place on Tuesday, Governor AbdulRazaq praised the fire service operatives for their dedication and swift response to emergencies that have prevented significant losses.

He further reiterated the administration’s commitment to supporting the fire service’s efforts in protecting lives and property.

“They have been doing a yeoman’s job protecting lives and properties. With rapid interventions over the years, we have seen that a lot of lives have been saved and properties that could have been consumed by fire were saved,” the governor stated.

Following the handover of the fire truck keys to the Director of the Service, Falade John Muyiwa, the governor assured continued support for the fire service. “We will continue to deepen our efforts in making sure that the fire service is well equipped and properly trained as well,” AbdulRazaq added.

In addition to the newly presented fire truck, the administration has also secured three fire trucks through the federal government. These trucks have been distributed to the three senatorial districts, with one each in Offa, Patigi, and Ilorin. Governor AbdulRazaq expressed gratitude to the federal government for their intervention, stating, “What we just did is our own contribution to safety and security. This is apart from the previous interventions.”

Director Falade expressed his appreciation for the governor’s unwavering support, which has significantly bolstered the service’s capabilities. “On behalf of myself and the entire fire service, I want to appreciate His Excellency. Since he came on board, he has been stretching the hand of support towards us,” Falade said.

He highlighted various improvements, including the procurement of operational vehicles, office renovations, replacement of an overhead tank, and repair of the service’s perimeter fence.

Falade also emphasized the importance of public awareness and urged citizens to be safety conscious. The fire service, he noted, regularly conducts public enlightenment programs on fire safety to further reduce the risk of fire disasters across the state.

With these new resources and continued governmental support, the Kwara State Fire Service is poised to enhance its effectiveness in safeguarding the community.
