The Federal Government on Wednesday, initiated the disbursement of compensation to Nigerians impacted by demolitions necessitated by the construction of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project.

In a stakeholders meeting held in Lagos State, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, disclosed that N2.75 billion would be allocated as compensation to property owners affected by demolitions along the coastal highway, spanning from channel 0 to channel 3.

Umahi also indicated that further compensation would follow in the coming days.

The decision comes amidst public outcry over property demolitions for the project, with many Nigerians urging the Federal Government to provide adequate compensation.

This move signifies a response to those demands.
