Lagos orders schools to comply with Supreme Court ruling on use of hijab

Lagos State government on Monday directed public and private schools in the state to allow the use of hijab by female students willing to do so.
The government’s move followed a Supreme Court ruling in June this year in a case instituted by the Muslim Students Society (MSS) against the state government.
A circular to that effect was issued on Monday by the Head of Service (HoS), Hakeem Muri-Okunola.
In the circular, the state government said it will soon release a comprehensive guideline on the use of hijab in the state public schools, while also directing that all accounting officers comply with the Supreme Court ruling.
