Lagos Police arrests four for staging fake kidnap

Lagos State Police Command has apprehended Margret Itodo (25), Agnes Ogbeh (23), Esther Anyanwu (24), and Anthony Chinakwe (24) for orchestrating a staged kidnap of Agnes Ogbeh.

This was made known in a statement issued by the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Adegoke Fayoade and signed by Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin on Friday.

According to the statement, Agnes Ogbeh, who resides in Akure, traveled to Lagos on Tuesday, where she was purportedly kidnapped. Her family in Akure received a distressing video depicting Agnes and another individual bound, gagged, and appearing injured, accompanied by a demand for Five Million Naira for Agnes’s release.

“Prompted by the complaint, detectives initiated a thorough investigation, leading them to a hideout where Agnes, the other individual from the video, and two others were found living freely together.

“Investigations further revealed that Margaret Itodo, a professional makeup artist, was hired to fabricate the realistic appearance of the video. All four suspects have provided confessional statements and will face legal proceedings upon the conclusion of the investigation”, said the Police.

CP Adegoke while commending the detectives for a timely intervention and thorough investigation, also urged Lagosians to be vigilant and report suspicious movements around them to the nearest security agency.
