LASG seizes 350 motorcycles, alleges security threat

The Lagos State ministry of Environment and Water Resources as part of its continued efforts to ensure a clear out of unwanted entities in the state, has confiscated over 350 motorcycles in the Fagba area of the state.

Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab made this known in a post on his official X handle.

According to him, the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Taskforce conducted a series of raids in some areas in Fagba, leading to the confistication of 359 motorcycles and subsequent arrest of the riders.

Stating the need for the operation, Wahab revealed that most of the riders lived on the streets with no known addresses.

This he added, has constituted nuisances in the affected areas, while posing serious security threats to the environment.

The commissioner further revealed the arrested riders have been charged to court.

Reacting to the post, some netizens criticized the move, while others applauded it.

For instance, while X user Olufemi with handle @fmvikky wrote: “Fagba is under Ifako ijaiye LG, which is not part of LG banned of Okada. I am also wondering when living on the street is now a crime.”

Another X user, Olamileka with handle @onlineguru_ noted, “These are the set of people Lagos need to get rid of.. Thank you Mr Tokunbo.”
